Good luck with the double yolker.
I've helped 2 chicks from their shell. They both needed vitamins(polyvisol) straight down the beak and leg splints. My first chick I helped was in the shell 2 days too long. She walked on her hocks and I splinted her thighs. She is with me today and her growth was severely stunted from being in the shell too long.
I hatched her in April and I took this photo a couple days ago. She is about the size of my bantam and is a barred rock/EE mix. I had to score and pip the shell myself. This miracle pullet is forever mine.
My second I helped was much weaker and had splay leg. I used bandaids and a lot of encouragement with this one. S/he is a pure Ameraucana. This chick was too big for its shell and could not zip. I hatched it after it pipped for 24 hours. S/he would of died.
. This one is growing fine and will be going to a new home.
Just took off the bandaid splint
