I'd give him a good hour before you help. He doesn't have any yolk or anything attached, correct? If he does than leave him be for sure. Otherwise, he should be able to kick it off eventually on his own and you don't want to be opening the incubator too much.

Nope no yolk. He has his legs, head, and wings out and he is flopping around in his little basket chirping loudly...

not sure, it might be? It's like a turtle shell on the poor little dude.

Take it from someone that has been there, don't open that incubator unless absolutely necessarry. They usually do ok without intervention. The more you open it up, the more likely the rest of the eggs will 'shrink-wrap'. That is horrible, trust me, have had it happen to me. I felt so terrible when I did the eggtopsies later, seeing these perfectly formed babies with the membrane shrunk around them, it suffocated them to death. If I had left the incubator alone, it wouldn't have happened. Even opening just a sec or two lets a lot of humidity out, the spikes up and down do a lot of damage at that time. Got my fingers crossed for you .

Well, I ordered over 2 dozen Silkie eggs today, lol. Should have them by next weekend.

So yup, I'm gonna do another batch! (Actually 2 or 3 more, gonna run 2 incubators, staggered batches

)

It is hard to get a pic of him with no flash (don't want to blind the poor babies) and at the angel he is (right at the front of the incubator). If the shell is stuckk how to I get it off without hurting him?

He got it off! whew The baby that has pipped on the wrong end is still ok, I can see the egg moving around and the hole is big enough to breath so we are ok right now!

2 babies thus far, 9 eggs left of that batch, plus my double yoke is in lockdown today (no turning!) excited to see what happens. Isn't it fun to go to sleep then wake up the next morning to progress?? that is IF you can fall asleep

I'd love to do another hatch with y'all! I have 10 chicken eggs (plus what is out in the coop) sitting on the table waiting on me to decide (this is too much fun not to do again!!!).

I've still got nothing. Eggs aren't "due" until Sunday, but momma has had early hatches before. I didn't candle any of the eggs. I don't like to mess with her, so I don't candle. I hope there's something in there!
