Who's setting with me Sept 1st-4th?

Wow 3 posts in a row, aren't I something, I keep keep missing things. I don't know how the brahma silkie cross would turn out at all, but it would be so cool to have the brahma colors with silkie characteristics.

I'm not sure how small the bantam cochins are, I've only seen pics. I agree about the dog kennels. My shepard cross died over the summer, and as I don't want another outside dog for some time, my step-daughter and I converted it to sort of like an aviary for my quail. They love it. We have an old shed about 10X20 sitting next to it that I want to strip all the metal siding off of. Then I can put wood siding on about 1/3 of it and enclose the rest with wire, and maybe putting another large kennel next to it, connecting to the side as a run for them. This I want for my Silkies, as it is closer to the house, and more importantly, electricity. I think the heat is what killed my Silkie hen. It got over 105 several times this summer, with a feels-like heat index of 115. Next summer I will be ready for it. Gonna have fans to circulate air inside the coop.

Wow, if it got that hot here, I would melt! I think it reach 100 degrees twice this summer and that was miserable. My poor rabbits just looked awful. Perfect weather for me is in the 60's which is why I love fall, but I love all of the seasons.

Way to go!! So glad you have at least the one! Kinda like me right now with only the one Silkie....Although I did put 30 more Silkie eggs in the incubator yesterday

I am going to get a good hatch one way or the other. Went back to the drawing board, re-reading everything I can get hold of concerning humidity issues.
Here's a few pics of the cute little Silkie I took this morning:
Check out all the feathering on the legs and feet!!

What a cute chick!

. I don't know what makes me do this, lol. But I love it. Ok, here's the beginning count. 30 Silkie, 6 OE/EE, 9 assorted bantams, 10 assorted LF layers, 4 duck, and 4 Royal Palm turkey eggs. I have never hatched duck or turkey eggs, so y'all chime in with whatever advice you may have.....been researching, but so many differences of opinion out there, sigh.

I have a 12 pack coming! Hopefully today or as late as Monday! I can't wait! I love raising lil' babies! Your not alone.;)

I candled mine last night they are on day 4 and only 4 of them are developing, I really hope they all hatch. The rest I'll leave in until day 7 though I'd be confident enough to throw them out now, there are a lot of bacterial blood rings. I will not buy shipped egg again. The only hatchery that carriers silver laced cochin bantams is efowl, and I was told that they are just a middleman. I'm also worried about quality, but I don't want to buy eggs again. All I can do is pray for a male and a female.

And Nicole, your bunny is soooo adorable! I love the mini lops. We have one black dutch and one that is some sort of mix but he is gorgeous. They both are friendly and love to be pet, but neither will ever let me hold them. My favorite was a rex that died 2 years ago, she had fur of velvet and she was so gorgeous.

And Good Luck with all your eggs Lesalynn! You've got quite the assortmant! I've always wanted canadian geese eggs. My mother found a little loan gosling in the middle of a busy highway once with no mother goose in sight, so she pulled over and picked him up. He was the sweetest thing, he would follow us around everywhere, he loved to be played with. He acted more like a dog than a goose. Then of course one day, my father brought him out to the back 40 aces by the pond and left them there, he followed us back as fast he could before he just couldn't keep up, I felt soo bad but I was only like 10 years old so I couldn't do anything. My dad did that because he was sick of the goose poop in the garage. I really want another canadian goose, the domesticated ones sound so aggressive.

The egg with the clear nail polish replacing the top half of the shell is developing amazingly!! It's on day 7, I really hope it makes it to hatching day! After my silver laced eggs hatch, I'm going to fill an incubator with eggs like this and take daily pictures and records because I don't think anyone has ever done this before. It's getting so exciting. I need to name the little guy, what do you guys think? I can't wait until it get bigger!!! Also I candled the shipped eggs again and have 6 eggs developing instead of the 4, I opened up the rest and they were all in fact bad. But for me, those 6 eggs make it worth it, I really hope they hatch after all this trouble.
