Who's used Alli, I want to hear your thoughts!

You don't want to mess with that stuff! It's awful, from what I hear. And, yes, you would need depends, or something if you eat food with a bit too much fat content. I would never want to take a chance on something like that. Yuck!!

I do recommnd Dr. Oz's book, You on a Diet. You can find it at Amazon, Target, your local library, etc. That is the best book I have ever read on teaching you about your body, why you shouldn't eat certain foods, what they do to your body, why some foods are good for you, etc. It is a good read, and will help you in your weight loss, as it teaches you how to eat for life, not just for a short period of time.

Good luck!

Kathy

i watched what I ate, avoided high fat foods like pizza and take out burgers and had no problems. I only used it for breakfast and lunch so I didnt have to worry so much about supper as it is a bigger meal, just ate better for you stuff.

It's ok if you eat relatively low fat. Don't wear light colored pants. If you have to pass gas and there isn't a bathroom nearby cover yourself with a paper towel just in case. Don't pass gas in bed.

yeaaah i think i'll pass on Alli xD

Are you guys being serious? I've never heard of the stuff, but why in the world would anyone take anything that would cause "rectal seepage"? Of all the places I don't want seeping.. thats one of them!

If in taking the medicine you have to avoid grease and fat, then why don't you just avoid those things in the first place and NOT take the medicine. It's just basically eating right, but the Alli people want you to think you have to take the pill with it, too.

There is so much misconception on Alli.

I took it several years ago to lose 20lbs. I did it and have kept it off ever since and I never had one day of "rectal seepage".
If you follow the diet as outlined, you will not have a problem.
Low fat is not necessarily the idea, as you have to have a certain amount of fat, not over and not under. You have to MEET to number of fat and calories figured to you when you start the program. If you do not meet the number required you will not probably lose weight and if you go over, you will have accidents.

The hardest part was the first week, figuring what you could eat and measuring the amounts and such. I would have a bagel and 1 tbs of cream cheese on it every morning. That equaled to about 15g of fat for breakfast. For lunch and supper I took the pills all the time, and found that I often had to add a tbs of full fat salad dressing or a tbs of butter just to make my required amount for the meal. You can have potatoes and meat, marinated and seasoned however you want. I never exercised. I only took it on and off for about 6 months and have not taken it since. I have maintained my weight easier now than I did and I just keep in mind the diet part (without the pills)
I can have two slices of pizza hut pizza cheese only. Pepperoni is not a great thing. They even have a Alli cookbook with some awesome recipes. The whole key is following the rules. No cheating as cheating is what gives you the issues of "rectal seepage" you are supposed to start the actual "diet" days before you start the pills as the pills can affect what you ate 3 days prior. So if you have Christmas dinner coming up, stop taking the pills a few days in advance then after, start them a few days after you resume your diet.

Also want to add that you could essentially lose weight just by doing the diet part as beakkeeper stated, but the pill adds a little "oommph" to make you lose a bit more than you normally would faster. That is how I have kept it off since I stopped thepills, I follow the diet.
I do splurge every now and then but I try to eat healthier and not "overendulge" I do not eat fast food really. And there is this wonderful butter that is called "I can't believe its not butter" its a SPRAY butter and its just like the real but no fat or calories.
I use light ranch dressing now, and drink more water.

My doctor told me if I ate the percentage of fat (around 15% in a day I think she said) then I could do it without takingthe Alli. I have a friend using it, no seepage problem, she is sticking to the rules! Not for everyone though! Good luck, Theresa
