I have 5 out of 7 bantam cochins - 3 splash, 2 blue. I have 4 out of 5 mutts so far, two from green eggs and two from brown. The two little green egg babies have the CUTEST little fluffy faces...

Thirteen out so far here. I am so excited one of my granddaughters little sizzles hatched she is watching the other three but so far nothing. I had to take some of them out last night as one litlle gold polish was panting and panting. I was afraid to leave them over night so I put them in a brooder at 2:00 am and went to bed. Well keep you all posted

UPDATE! Right now I have 25 healthy looking chicks and more pipping as the day goes on. 31 eggs left. We'll see. More later.

Cute pictures!!

One of my chicks has pipped, and it keeps poking its beak through the hole and peeping. Why isn't it zipping?? I'm getting worried. It doesn't seem to realize that it can peck more holes in the shell, it's just sitting there with the beak through the pipped hole crying.

Should I do anything? Just wait? I don't want to open the bator and mess with the humidity. It's all the way up to 90% all of a sudden.

I'm kind of bummed. I set 5 RIRs, 6 BRs and 4 bantam EE's on day 18. Had all the RIRs hatch on day 20 and 21. I have 1 BR that looks like it pipped and quit...a little oozie looking stuff coming out of the crack. Other BRs doing NOTHING. 1 out of 4 little EE's has pipped, beak stick out for the past 16-18 hours, but its doing nothing either. Its day 22 and all I have right now is 5 RIR chicks....they are cute though!

I can't advise. I've never used an incubator before. Maybe you should start a new thread to ask? I've read on here, though, where people have said they've waited 12 hours or more for a pip to zip... I don't know if I'd have the patience to not help.

Update: I had one final hatch the other night

Update on my hatch. I ended up with 13 ameraucanas. 3 had splayed legs. not sure why! The twins never hatched so I opened them up. Looks like they died real close to full term. One was yellow and one was dark. Ended up with lots of different colors. One solid yellow, one kinda a cinnomon color, three red ones and a bunch of stripey ones. The pic is of the four I decided to keep. They are so sweet! Can't wait to see how they will feather out:)https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/20998_farmer_cash_001.jpg[/img]
