Why and what do you do when a cockerel turns agressive?

If you cant personally handle the rooster and dont think you will be able to learn how to handle it then you should either find a new home for the bird and be very truthful about the situation or you should cull the rooster. Chickens are livestock, they were selectively bred to serve a purpose and that selective breeding included tonssss of culling, it is not cruel to cull. Imo it's more cruel and very irresponsible to randomly dump a bird off at some "place"

Unless someone really wants him and gives him a good life, you need to take care of him and try to make the best of it. As long as he is only aggressive towards you, try to work with him. If he is creating problems for the rest of your flock, that is something you will have to take responsibility for.

If you have to start a poll on whether or not you should keep your rooster, you are probably not a suitable person to keep him. A bit blunt, but not far off the mark I believe.
It really doesn't matter what other people think, he's your rooster and therefor your responsibility.
While you think about what you are going to do about or with him here are a few suggestions.
Wear heavy cotton, or denim type trousers when you attend to your chickens and proper footwear; boots will give your feet adequate protection.
When you go to feed your chickens, don't pick up his hens.
Give the rooster the food first. Just place the food in front of him and back away. let him call his hens to feed.

How do you act around your rooster? do you creep around softy and try not to disturb your chickens or do you walk with authority. do you move out of your roosters way or do you walk through your rooster? I dont feel I do anything special but assert my natural dominance and I have never ever had a rooster problem despite always having 2 or more roosters
