Why are "Eggland's Best" better then the average egg?

I actually had wondered about that comment. I also wondered what the difference between uncaged and free range was. I think thats two other different kinds of eggs offered by markets.

Husband just asked the same thing last night. I told him about the Omega-3s supposedly in them (aren't we suspicious). I'm sure that between good layer feed and all the kitchen scraps (last night gave the ladies left over parmesan cheese and flour used to batter fish) our bright yellow yolks tell the truth. Guess we could put some flax seed in there for good measure.

Don't put too much flax in, it will make the eggs taste like fish! If you're cooking them with fish or putting them into a batter to dip fish in it would be fine, but for breakfast, no thanks, lol. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that. Same deal with onions and garlic, or really any strong flavored foods.

PS - You should see peoples faces when I tell them that their "grade A fresh" eggs have probably been sitting on a shelf for upwards of four months before they ever make it to the supermarket. I've gotten more first time sales with that line than anything else. Taste and texture gets you repeat customers!

Free Range means the chickens are free to roam and have access to the outside, like our backyard chickens.

Uncaged means just that- they aren't in battery cages.

Either one can be deceiving. Free-range doesn’t necessarily mean they have access to fresh green grass and open fields. It just means they are outside at least some of the day. They could very well be in a tiny crowded run.
And uncaged leads you to believe they are free ranged, but typically, they still don’t see the outside. It could mean that they are still housed in a huge crowded barn- they just aren’t in cages.

Why they are better to me is the shell quality (same consistency of my layers), before my girls started laying I would buy that brand and occasionally if they were not on sale I would get the store brand and the shells were paper thin and weak. Not sure of the actual nutritional qualities they spout about.
