So I have 3 chickens (1 RIR, 1 golden sexlink, 1 barred rock) they are all around 10 mnths old and all of a sudden they have become VERY loud (especially the RIR) I live in the city and I am worried that they are going to start disturbing my neighbors. Any ideas what would be causing this, and how I can make them stop?

Unfortunately RIRs are just like that. I've seen them screaming over laying eggs, someone else laying eggs, the sun being up, the world being round, etc... It's because of that exactly that I don't keep any.

Red SLs are a pretty calm lot,, so you might want to limit your flock to just those girls. Hens go pretty quickly on Craigslist, so you can pick out your really loud ladies, and keep adding hens until you end up with a nice quiet group (for chickens anyway).

But keep in mind that chickens are noisy by nature. Some more than others, but none are silent.
