I had 14 frizzle cochins eggs in the incubator. One of them ended up not being fertile, leaving 13 eggs.

3 died in shell after beginning to hatch
3 died after hatching while drying in the incubator
1 died 1/2 in and 1/2 out of shell while hatching
6 are fine and now in the brooder.

This is my first experience with eggs that I mail-ordered. What could have happened that out of 13 living chicks on day 21, only 6 of them survived? Humidity was maybe a little high, but temp was fine.

The humidity got up in the 80's. I pulled the plugs on the top to let the moister out when I realized how high it got. I've been told in the past the higher the better for humidity. Is that too high?

I feel so bad for you..shipped eggs are so trickey..they are damaged in postal service devileries..its POs job to get them to you fast..they dont much care how they get them there..we treat them like accident victems the whole while we are incubating.. they do not move at all for 7 days ..My freind pastor roland Romig the APA judge thinks we are all very brave souls for even trying to ship eggs..He makes arrangements to buy birds and when he travels across country to judge shows he picks the birds up..he even on occasion picks up one for me.got a huge black orp hen..just love her

It is just very trickey very heartbreaking and even nice when you can get that many..enjoy the ones you have..
