Why are my chicks eating anything I use as bedding? Should I worry?

Hi,
I have 3 chicks who will be 7 weeks old tomorrow. They won't stop eating the bedding. We have tried pine pellets, pine shavings, and paper towels. Should I be worried?
Thank you for any help.

My babies must have eaten an entire BAG of shavings when they were little.

I posted the exact same question! And they will STILL eat the shavings if they get bored and have nothing else to pick at. I keep part of the coop bedded with Bermuda grass hay and they love to eat that. (that is really only cut grass bailed into hay bales) Chickens love grass.

But it won't hurt them as long as they have plenty of grit or stones to fill the gizzard to break down all that wood. Dont' worry, they will be fine.

You can try to purchase the largest size shaving you can find, give them other things to pick at instead of their bedding. Good luck with your babies!
