Why are my ducks running from my new duckling?

Funnily enough I've got a family of mice living under the stairs into the yard but all the ducks charge them when they catch sight of them!
So apparently ducklings are more frightening than mice!

I think anything that threatens their role as cutest animals in the area causes fear. And as Yoda said - Fear leads to Anger!

LOL, Once I found a mouse nest and when I picked it up some tiny baby mice fell on the ground man my Muscovy's had eaten them before I could even get a second look at what it was. So tiny ducklings "are" much scarier than mice.

I'd be beside myself; just the thought of my good girls chewing up baby mice!
I even move frogs and toads out of the yard after watching a youtube vid of 2 ducks having a tug of war with one!

We don't even have toads and frogs anymore. I miss them. snakes we still have but I have seen my ducks go after small snakes even a copper head, large blk snakes they are afraid of unless it comes in their nest where they are brooding then they will try to defend their nest. They ate all my preying mantis too.

I love praying mantis too. I still find the odd one. Mine will eat mice, even putting them in the water to 'break them up'...Yeuch! I still see the odd frog too, and there was a gorgeous little mouse nest in the duck shed - she had even lined it with down - before the rats kicked her out.

When I find a mouse nest it always has ducks and chicken feathers in it. We don't even have frogs in our small pond anymore, I keep fencing around it to keep the water fowl out and my fish protected. But haven't seen a frog in about 3 yrs use to have a couple bull frogs that lived in the pond. They packed up and left too.
