Is it usually around that temperature where you live? Extreme temperatures can influence how often a hen lays. Also, is there anything that might be stressing them out (like pecking each other)? When did you notice they had stopped laying? I hope this helps and good luck!

The tempeature is good and nothing is stressing them out

How much older than a year? They could be molting & yes they can molt without you noticing lots of feathers & without them being "naked", at least mine do.

When was the last time they laided and egg?

Most people seem to think if they stop laying something is wrong but chickens dont poop out an egg every day for a consistent amount of time.I see that there is bread in there run,Bread is very bad for birds.Corn is bad for them too.Feed them layer pellets only.

I have a similar problem - no eggs for almost 6 months now. I live on a small island in Greece. My two hens, who are just over two years old, laid very well over the winter but started to go off the lay in February, when they began their first moult. The moult has been very protracted but has now ended, finally!

Although Cantona recently laid an unfinished egg, Chicharito 'passed' this (see photos) last week. She was in the nesting box for ages and looked sorry for herself before and after, but was fine the following day. Both are eating well. What on earth is it?

I wish I'd taken a picture before I dissected it, as it was one complete tubular-shaped piece, and both ends of it were sealed. In the photos, I've already dissected it to see what was inside. When I lived in England and kept a larger number of hens, I didn't see anything like this. Has anyone got any ideas?

Chickens are kept very differently in Greece - it's very difficult to get decent food. Most people feed their hens wet mash and scraps. My girls aren't keen on the mash but they have some fresh every day, as well as free access to a mix of crushed corn, grains and layer's pellets (but pellets are available from our one feed store only in Spring). As all the chickens are free range, you can't buy oyster shell or grit so I give them baked, ground up egg shells. I also give them a mineral supplement and healthy scraps, plus Vermex pellets each month. I see you mentioned corn is bad for them, but I've always given my hens crushed corn, with no ill-effects. Why is it bad for them? Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
