I dont answer many questions because I feel like I dont know enough to give an educated answer and someone smarter will come along.
Just the way I am.. Even said in my astrology chart that I am unsure of myself a lot, even though I may know the answer.

I agree, there are many matter of fact people. Black and white
I hate the predator/pest section personally, I think I see the most arguments there.
I love animals and before I had chickens I never wanted to see any dead, then I lost them to different predators and it changes your view...I think it takes some of the newer people by surprise that people are saying shoot it when they are talking about a cat because most see a cat as only a pet..... some don't change their view but I know of a few who have

I agree with this, my birds are pets, others raise for meat. My answer and the other persons answer would be very different on many subjects. I tend to read a question or problem by an op and either help if I can or ignore (thinking to myself, this particular thread will be closed soon). For the most part, BYC is invaluable to me. I have found a wealth of knowledge here and kind people. I too have asked a question that got a nasty answer and later learned that person was banned. I feel that the moderators here do a wonderful job at keeping things civil.

I help where I can. I wish I had the knowledge to help someone with an emergency situation, cuz I sure don't have the experience(thankfully I have been pretty lucky with my flock). But I will help someone with breed identity/gender and incubating/hatching because I have experience and don't feel like I am blowing smoke. I would feel terrible if I tried helping someone with an injury and end up causing the demise of the bird, I can only share the basic do's/don'ts. I think there are a lot of responses in the social area because that is easier for some people....

As long as I have been a member of the BYC, I have learned not to take things too personally and not everyone will agree with everything you want them to be. Sometimes it can get painfully honest and it hurts! I've been under the gun a few times and be respectful to everyone as well. If there is a forum in there like the predators, that bothers you alot because some of us kill off coons and possums and repeated offending dogs, just don't read there. If you still go over there to read, then why are you complaining? You can either put your concerns or advises on there and be prepared for some that would "attack" you. When it happens to you when one attacks you, just let it roll off your shoulder and move on. Yes it does help to develop a thick skin sometimes or pull your britches up higher would make you a better chicken owner and have social graces that everyone can like you as you are.

Remember alot of the newbies are the ones that can keep the BYC going, they are our " children" and it is up to us to carry on that chicken torch, leading or advising them what you had experienced in your birds. I was a newbie once, waaaaaay before I came on BYC and I am still learning to this day, swapping ideas and comments and tolerate all members of all walks of life. It is a very interesting place to be.

I can not answer all the questions that needed to be answered, either are those things: I do not know, I MIGHT know but unsure, same question as yesterday (and why aren't they using the search engine) depending on my moods, I can either help or sit this question out by just reading them and not responding. If it is something I am uncertain of, I'll go find the link or read somewhere in the web and provide a link to help you find the answer you are looking for.

Just hang in there, some of us got some personality we just like such as "Speedy Fingers", SpeckledHen, TerriLacy, Nifty, and all the wonderful people in here. If they interest you alot, just follow along with them and get a chuckle or two. Boyd is one of those men along with Mahroni and that Robert Redford lookalike. You will find some offensive people that you can either love or hate.

I think some people just never leave the high school mentality behind. I read a post before from a man to another man that stated yet another man was jealous because of his popularity. Huh? Keep in mind these are grown men with families.

I kinda think alot of people should spend a little more time with their families and friends and quit worrying about who is most "popular" on BYC.

Soem people are just plain rude and some people just don't know any better. A lack of social grace I can forgive but the ones that are hateful on purpose really get under my skin and sometimes it's hard to tell what s really going on.

Maybe it's just a phase and things will turn around soon.

I have to go now. The bell just rang for 3rd period and if I get detention for being late to English again my parents will kill me.

I agree with a lot of whats being said here. Honestly, I'm done with birds for the year so I don't jump into some of the other threads often unless somebody asks me too. I am a very blunt black and white type of person, and I'm easily misunderstood on my replies. I've always looked at my birds and animals as livestock, not pets so I would be guilty of saying stew pot if somebody posted a wwyd type of question, because I don't attribute feelings with my animals. It's easier to live with yourself if you are raising for meat that way.

That being said, I also have quite a few friends on here who'm I've gotten urgent phone calls because something got into something or were injured. They spared no time in finding out what to do, and tried to save their pets. Yup, pets. Sometimes crusty folks like me know how to do it, but sometimes have the unfortunate attitude of ... why would you? Sometimes the $$ doesn't make sense to me, but I do understand their feelings. Even though they may differ from mine... But remember, its probably because of us filling the freezer year after year.
