in the big freakin chip truck
why is it that when some people read a road sign that says "left lane closed ahead" they interpret this as "limited time passing opportunity ahead" i mean REALLY! if you have been warned in every conceivable way for the last three miles that the left lane is ending why on earth would you try to race the big rig going 60mph to the end of the lane? i mean i know us big trucks are slow and lame to be behind but really, is it worth dieing over? this happens to me CONSTANTLY! i really don't get it, I'm pretty confident that if i tangle my 105,500lbs of chip truck with a car i will come out ahead, if I'm found not at fault it will end up being a glorified inconvenience for me but could possibly be deadly not only for the driver of the car and its occupants but to anybody else unfortunate enough to be traveling the same stretch of roadway, for the record I'm not a jerk, i do let people in when they need over but some people will actually be behind me knowing full well the lane is ending, then at the last minute say to themselves "you know i betcha i can make it" i just cant wrap my mind around this, well that's my driving pet peeve, anybody else?

I agree.. some people have a death wish.

I really wouldn't mind these kind of drivers if it was just themselves they took out. Clean up the gene pool a little for the rest of us maybe. But when they put my family at risk it really burns me up.

Stupis is as stupid does.

Nothing you can do about these idiots. Almost had one almost run me into a ditch on the interstate. She could see the truck ahead and I was already passing him when she just cut in front of me.

when it is car vs. truck; the truck wins every time.

I love tourists who wait until the last possible second to make a left turn from the outside lane... or make a U-turn in the middle of the road... or sight-see at 30 mph in a 50 mph zone.

I encountered a driver once who kept signaling, with her hand out the window, to make a lane change... except what she was really doing was drying her nail polish.

I think car companies should put black boxes in cars like there are in airplanes. Then maybe the one really at fault for an accident could be determined and penalized!

Ugh 4 wheelers! I had some drive around me via the emergency lanes just to get a few more feet ahead.I have places to go too!

I totally respect truckers and keep my distance. There is only so much they can do when they are carrying an 80,000 pound load(well that is the limit I am told!)

I don't understand the need for driviers to drive 1 foot behind the vehicle in front of them.If I see that in front of me I keep back in case there is an accident.Dh says if that is done behind me I should slow down(usually I go 5 over the limit),but road ragers scare me.

Let me share something, with you.
About three years ago, we were traveling to Piet Retief, (double lane) and a old lady and her husband were driving of the side of the incomming traffic. People were hooting at her trying to tell her but she did not listen. Later on we saw in the Newspaper that the same old lady had had an accident where her husband was the only victim. I felt sorry for her and her family, but it was her own choice, now she must live with the effects

. I agree some people just don't want to hear/abide the rules or signs and end up in a big mess.

my driving pet peeve is folks getting on the highway. It is their responsibility to merge into traffic, not have traffic make a hole for them. When I'm driving my kid van I do not switch lanes often. There is too many kids inside for me to be taking evasive maneuvers, and since its got a big 'ole motor I do not go more than 65 or so. Folks don't like driving behind me either
