Try this. There is one incorrect labeling on illustration 1 in the manuscript and I can not edit the post for some reason.

A sex linked cross in ducks is pale Buff Orpington male X Khaki Campbell female = male darker down ( legs and bill also) than females

females inherit the recessive sex linked buff dilution gene from the male. I

believe these are called golden cascades

I do not know of any gene in ducks that has a dosage effect like the barring gene in chickens.

I know very little about ducks but am love to learn about sex linkage. This may work but don't really know about duck color genetics. What about breeding a chocolate female to a black male (or maybe it is the other way around, can't remember). I believe there are ducks that come in Chocolate, right? You will get one sex chocolate and the other black. Does anyone know if this applies to ducks too?

I do realize this thread is 3+ years old but I wanted to comment in case someone needed the information.

A Khaki Campbell Male bred to Black Females such as Black Runners, Cayugas, or Black Swedish will create a Sex Linked Cross. It also works with Muscovies breeding a Chocolate Muscovy to a Black Muscovy.

Male ducklings from this cross hatch out Black, or Shades of Black. Females hatch out Brown or Shades of Brown. The Golden 300 may be Khaki Males over Black Swedish, Black Runners, or Cayugas.

It is also possible that their are two lines such as 1/2 Khaki Campbell 1/2 Chocolate Runner for the male line and 1/2 Cayuga 1/2 Black Swedish for the female line. I'm not sure exactly but I am positive on the sex linkage of color in ducks. I first did it with Muscovies and later down the road did it with the Khaki Campbell and Black colored ducks. Sorry to bring an old thead back to life, but I hope it helps someone.
