Why are they SO loud?

Hey y’all! So our girls are all around 23 weeks old now and 3 are laying, 4 are not. They were pretty quiet but recently they have been like little alarms! It’s SO loud, I’m getting worried my neighbors are going to start complaining! The current culprits are the EE that’s laying, out Cream Brabanter who is also laying, our barred rock also a layer, and our welsummer who is squatting but not yet laying. Our barnevelder, second EE and Silkie are still relatively quiet. I just want to know if this is an egg layer behavior, and if it sticks around forever? I’ve read mixed things with some people saying they’ll get quieter after a little. I just wanted to hear experiences from others! TIA! (Photo for cuteness)

I guess they might get quieter, or people just get used to listening to it and think it is quieter.

Chickens sing the "egg song" often before and after laying. Some will sing when they see another egg. I have a hen that will sing it on and off all day long after laying an egg.

Yup that’s what ours sounds like! Have you noticed it change at all since they started laying? Or is that loud screaming song there to stay?

Yes it’s permanent but flock dynamics can certainly change over time.

I've had chickens almost my whole life and the hens are so loud when they first lay or are getting ready to lay but it does get quiet after they all start to lay it's kinda like the ones that are laying are doing a nananana at the ones that are not but once they all start they can't do it anymore

Mine have always been loud. That’s just who they are! They announce everything. If you free range them, they will quiet down because they will be occupied with other matters. But when they lay eggs they will always sing. Bring your neighbors some eggs as an apology.
