My broody chantecler is sitting on 9 eggs that I don't think are fertilized (haven't found a fertile one in the pan yet!), but I thought I'd candle them (6 days of setting) before I swapped them out for fertile ones. I can't see anything inside them... one seems to be dark on 1/3 of a side, but i think it must just be yolk... the eggs were set and left outside in the snow for a week at least before she sat on them... all that seems to happen is light pours out of tiny pores in the egg, but the rest of the shell isn't see through. Not at all like the pictures I see here! It's a good flashlight, super bright, and I used a toilet paper roll to focus the light into the egg.
