Somehow, I dont see it working for a rescue to get a dog in and say "ok, we are just gonna do the bare basics and you can adopt thi dog for $75 and then go spend thousands on its medical care" Yeah, I bet people would line up for that...
Fact is, most rescues can get that stuff done at a better price than an individual would anyway, so they are getting a bargain at $400 and if they understand the cost of vet care, they know that. The other reason for rescues to get it done before sending a dog out is that some people would never get it done. That wouldnt be responsible f the rescue to allow the dog to continue living with a painful condition b/c the new owners decided they didnt have the $$ to fix it. It happens, I know many cases where people have taken dogs and promsed to get thinsg done and they dont.
