Why can't I get my shipped chicken eggs to hatch?!?!

Hmmm... I just wonder. I have another experiment in the incubator... Crackers (Charlie) brought me 6 Silkie eggs from his girls (out of Bamachickens' flock). Literally, he brought them from Florida on the plane in his checked luggage.

All 6 are developing, so we'll see how it turns out. I have some eggs from Christina and 3 of my own eggs in there (don't know if they're fertile, though), so between them, we'll see which ones do the best. But I'm not opening the incubator at ALL after day 17... nope, nuh uh...not me.

SHE is a real cutie! Hard to tell if it's black or just dark blue right now. Tori, I have a couple customers who are coming to pick up eggs in July, so by the time I have eggs that aren't claimed, it'd be too hot to ship. Its pretty much there now and that's why they're driving to get them. I'd sure be game to do it again, if you are, though, when the weather permits.

Well... thinking about it, though... If it's too late in the year, we'll hit winter here before they're old enough to join the others. We start dipping below freezing in September - snow in October. So... maybe I can put a downpayment (or two) of salmon on a batch in the Spring?

Hubby will kill me if I'm brooding in the winter again... need to keep the peace, y'know?
