Why Can't You Put Quail and Chickens Together

Unless you have an environment that is "CLOSED" you are not going to prevent your birds from coming in contact with "wild birds" Heck,I've had cardinals get IN the house. I keep an eye out for any birds that appear weak,sick or just plain odd.

To clarify,i do not advocate mixing flocks. I have other quail in raised wire pens.The chukar (2) can't be placed with the coturnix,being there are only two I'm not building additional cages unless they turn out to be male and female

so i have a shed and it houses my quail, i have had some chicks (chickens) in a chick only brooder out there for about a week, should i be super concerned that they've been infected in some way? I plan to move them now so i can stop worrying...

should i be concerned the quail are sick or the chickens??

I wouldn't be. I think the risk only gets out of hand if they are exposed (quail) to the chickens dirty litter or wet wormy ground

Well.. when i snip their heads off, and then gut and pluck them .. they're pretty much goners...
Havent had any survive that yet...

I once shot a opossum in the head point blank and it got up and walked away. LOL

Sharing the coop is the only way to to have quail... So you are not supposed to keep them together. Do you mean Literally IN CONTACT or can the diseases spread through the air. Sorry, my question mark is not working. I would have a very well ventilated coop so....
