Came to coop this morn and found my broody muskovy hen squeaking outside her nest. Found the drake in her nest covered in poo with over half the eggs outside the nest and cold. What the heck is going on?

He most likely wanted to get her back in the breeding mode.

I had a Bourbon Red tom turkey that would hunt for the turkey hen's nest and stomp all the eggs to get the hen back in breeding mode. The neighbor said he was delicious.

I love animals. I also eat animals. There's a balance to life and he just tipped the balance out of his favor. Eat him and give another drake a good life.

Wow, none of my drakes have ever done that, though yesterday I did see one trying to make with a hen while she was on her nest, so maybe @R2elk is right.

Off topic but tom turkeys will take a turkey hen setting on a nest as an invitation to breed. The unwanted breeding attempts can result in smashed eggs, an injured hen or in a worst case, a dead hen. This is one of the reasons that turkey hens in the wild will hide their nests.

I never knew that! I also don't have turkeys. Good to know for when I do! I have a friend who has a very horny Tom that regularly kills chickens trying to mate with them. He's on borrowed time if he keeps it up :/

I warn people over and over again that if they keep a lone tom with chickens, there will be "flat" chickens. Turkeys are very social birds and need to have other turkeys to be with.
