Why did my 2 month old chicken lay an egg already?

I have a two 2 month old chicks and i think they layed an egg already! just like you, I found a greenish blue egg the size of a quarter in my coop this morning!
I do think one is a rooster. I have a Speckled Sussex and an Americana. The Americana is much bigger, is protective of the sussex, and always chest bumps the sussex. They fly up in the air and play around, it's odd. And another thing; they are inseparable. they get a foot or less away from eachother and they start calling frantically to eachother.
We also have 3 hens; a black hen that lays medium brown eggs, a barred rock hen that lays white eggs and an easter egger that lays green/blue eggs. I dont think its the easter egger because she never lays her eggs on the ground and never so small.

Very confused..i dont know if i have a rooster or if one of my chicks actually layed an egg!

I'm guessing that little egg came from your older EE. The 8 week old EE wouldn't be sexually mature yet, unless she has some serious hormonal issues. Sometimes a hen will send an egg through before it has time to "size up".

The small egg is a fart egg from your Ee hen, not from a 2 month old Pullet. Tiny eggs like that often wind up on the ground cause they just plop out.

I was wondering the same thing, because I have 2 hens, and 6 two month old pullets. I know that a chicken can lay more than 1 egg a day rarely. However, recently we have had a third egg once to twice a week. A third egg has only happened once or twice in 2 1/2 months before this. All the girls are supposed to lay about the same color eggs, so that is no help. It has to be an early layer. I got the day old chicks on April 24th. I have barred rocks and buff orpingtons.

I must really disagree here. Today I found 2 eggs in my doggie kennel. The only chickens that go in the kennel are my brave 2 1/2 month old chicks. The big girls lay in the coop, and I'm sure if I checked the coop right now there would be at least one egg. I get 2 eggs a day from my hens. So either my 2 Chihuahuas have learned to lay eggs, or my chicks are indeed laying early. LOL

Two month old chicks are still feathering in, their resources are going towards growth and feather production and keeping up the multitude of juvenile molts that occur for their first several months. They are not mature enough to produce eggs, or they are a lot older than you think they are. I think one of your older hens decided to kennel was a nice cosy place to lay.

I just want to be clear here is that 2 2 week old chicks or an unspecified number of of 10 week old chicks ?
If they are laying before 12 weeks the are ingesting growth/ fertility hormones / steroids from somewhere which can be bad for them in the long run.

My hens rarely go in the dog fenced yard. They definitely do not go near the small dog kennel. The chicks however love the dog yard and frequently go in and hang out with my 2 Chihuahuas. They go up to and in the kennel. I know for a fact that they could not have been more than a few days old when I purchased them on April 24th, and I raised them myself. The hens are very clock work about laying in the coop. I would have walked out to check except I had surgery a few weeks ago on my foot. I will know definitively if the girls didn't lay in the coop when my dad goes out there.
Personally I don't want them laying yet. I don't think it's healthy. They have their grower feed that theyare just nowstarting, and could steal lauer feed if they want. But other than scratch and fodder, they don't get anything besides freeranged grass and bugs.

I agree. If they are laying before 12 weeks old, something is seriously wrong.

Hmm well a few day old at Apr 24 puts them around 12 weeks so there probably okay.
