Why did my chick die??

So I had 15 chicks. And one of them died like we woke up and he was dead. We leave them to run around the yard so that they can have some outdoor time. I don't know if it is that he ate something or if the others squish him cause he was very small. Or did he die naturally??

How old was the chick? Did it die outside or in a brooder? Did it have any marks on it when you found it? Did it look squished? Need more info xxx
