Why did my egg/chick die? -graphic pics-

This egg was due last weekend and It was a black or blue molted duccle. I left it in the bator for another week, and ten we decided to open it. I wanted this chick to hatch the most, so If you could tell me what happened That would be great.
These pictures do not show the blue color of the chick very well.

I'm so sorry. It always seems to happen to the ones we want the most.

Well, it looks like the poor little thing died before the yolk was absorbed. When you opened the shell, was the head still tucked to the belly or had it moved up into position yet? Was the membrane dried out?
