Some friends were visiting today and my male turkey (tommy) all of sudden attacked one of them. She did nothing, except walk into the yard. He did not bother me nor the other friend. She booted him (shoved him with her boot when he would jump and hit her) and once she even kicked him cause of how vicious he went after her. We all got out of the yard (fenced in area for him and the chickens) Later we all went out that way and he was fine. Did his normal walking around, displaying feathers, drumming in his chest (that is normal for him, but he runs from me and always has). Everything was going normal, then after about 10 minutes, all of sudden he went nuts again. I had to get a manure rake to get him away. At no time did he try to attack me and once again, he at no time tried to attack my other friend. Neither one of them did anything to him to provoke him nor did they do anything different than I did. They never got near the chickens, and did not touch anything.

The one and only thing I noticed different was that the friend he attacked had on a belt with large crystals on it. And both times he attacked her was when she was facing the sun and the crystals were flashing and putting off big bright sparkles.

I wondered if it might be that. He has never done that before and it was only her that he went after. He was really being vicious about it.

Also keep in mind that it is breeding season and it was a new person moving into it's space. Tell her to loose the bling. bling next time and see if it helps.

No. Blue jeans and grey/blue tee shirt.

Like I said, it was only her. He never bothered her mom (the other person). She is not a child, she is 18, and taller than her mom, so she wasn't a child or small person.

Was your friend wearing a red shirt or any shade of red? I had a rooster go absolutely crazy and fly righ in my face one day when I was doing my chicken chores.....I was wearing a bright pink (nearly red) shirt! I really think that color made him feel threatened......

Blue can set them off, too. But likely he was jumping at the shiney objects, and when she used her foot to push him away the fight was on.
