OK, I'm sure no one here can read chicken minds but I've had a broody Australorp for a week. All weekend we debated buying fertilized eggs vs getting chicks to slip under her.
This morning I went to TSC and they had baby Australorps so I figured my decision was made. Baby chicks to slip under the broody tonight.
I get home and open the coop and guess what?
She's off the nest. She hasn't returned to it all day. She broke her brooding.
Now I have a brooder set up in the mud room with the babies. I was really hoping a chicken would take over the brooding for us this year....
