Why did she lay a very small egg today?

I went out and collected eggs today and one of them laid a very small egg. All the eggs prior to today have been normal size.

Did the hen that laid the small egg lay eggs before?

When a hen first starts laying her eggs are often smaller, and then the eggs get larger.

I have had them for about a month. The person I bought them off of said they have been laying, but r young.

OK, but have you previously received eggs from the hen that laid the small egg?

Sorry..... Yes she has been laying regular size eggs for about 3 weeks

It happens sometimes.

Hopefully the hen will back to her normal self tomorrow. If the hen keeps laying small eggs, then I would think there was a problem.

occasionally a hen will get a "hiccup" wich pretty much is she got bothered and it messed up her egg cycle this normally clears up within a day and she's back on her regular cycle

Did she get a bit of a scare recently?

Did she stop laying for a few days and then start again? if so she may have just stopped and started up again and need to "get back in the groove"

did you add a knew member to the flock?

has there been any squabbles that have been a little bigger then a peck away from the feeder?

these eggs come small (this one even had a yolk.)
