I have standard hens and they have almost quit laying at the moment...due to molting...not enough daylight hours and them getting ready for a long winter ...I always have low egg production for Oct. and Nov.....

I had two 9 month old pullets stop laying entirely, something I'd never experienced with my original flock. They were both going through a mini-molt, something I didn't see with my first bunch of girls at this age. I swear this year has been one for the books in so many ways! One stopped for six weeks and she is back laying again. The other one hasn't laid for three weeks and is still losing feathers galore.

Hi all. I'm so glad to read these posts. I have been worried about my girls. My 3 RI Reds are laying as usual but my 4 Ameraucans have completely stopped for the last 2 weeks. I don't mind not getting the eggs as long as they are ok and nothing is wrong. Glad to hear that this is not totally abnormal.

I've gotten no eggs for the past two days out of 35 hens. It's just that time of year.
