Why did this chick die?

I had another one do this yesterday they break a 1 inch hole in the shell get their beaks out and die we took apart the first one hoping we could save it but it had already died their was quite a bit a blood and it had sticky greenish stuff on its butt its eyes and mouth were open then we had this one do the same thing what is that thing attached to it?

The thing attached to it is the yolk sac. Once they break through the shell, it can take over 24 hours for a chick to hatch. Most of that time is spent resting and absorbing the yolk. It's also the period of time when the blood vessels that supported the chick through incubation begin to recede. Once the blood vessels have receded and the yolk sac is absorbed, a chick is ready to finish the hatching process by 'zipping' or pecking a rough line around the shell to break it in half. Then the chick will push itself out.
If you mistook the chick's resting period as 'dieing', and you tried to help it out before it was ready, you may have been the cause of death.

It was about 55-80

I noticed it hadn't been moving for hours and its beak was open sticking out of the shell i waited a while them decided to remove the tiny piece of shell the chick had broke loose when i did it didn't move. It's head was almost out i touched its beak to see if it would move. It didn't so i pulled some more shell off and could see the chick was dead. I Waited i little longer and then removed the chick it's neck was so twisted so I'm wondering if that had something to do with it? I could tell it had been dead for a while with this one almost the same thing happened except it died a few seconds before i could help it

The bent neck is actually normal for a chick that is in hatching position. Could be that the humidity wasn't high enough, and the chick got shrink wrapped in the membrane. It also might have pipped right through a blood vessel.
