Why did this chick die?

Pipped about 6 hrs ago and then all went quiet. I started to gently take away parts of the shell when I realised there no further noise. The chick was definitely dead as I pulled back the first part of the shell.

Sorry for your loss. Its hard to say sometimes why they die after pipping. Could of been to high humidity during incubation (they drown in the egg fluid), or to low during lockdown. Maybe not enough ventalation in the incubator. Its easy to plug up all the holes hoping to increase humidity but air flow is just as important. Could also be at the egg level, such as bad gene, or poor hen nutrition.
