why do babies peck at each other? Harmful?

I had two chicks hatch from the incubator about 24 hours apart. The older one is pecking at the smaller one. Sometimes at its eye. I want to put them together but am afraid to leave them alone. Can someone explain this behavior?

It's because they are learning what is feed and what isn't. Just put them together and sprinkle feed on the floor..

Yes...They have no Momma so learn what is food and what isn't..

Yes, it looks pretty mean, but every batch of chicks I've hatched has done it, and I haven't had a single actual injury. They go for toes, too.

Even broody hatched chicks will peck at eyes and feet.

So do you think I should just throw them together or wait a couple of days til the younger one gets stronger and can fend for herself?
I have them in separate little Rural King cardboard boxes with the little carved window. They are looking out at the chickens in the bigger cage that are 2 weeks old.

Put them together, they don't like to be alone.
