Why do chickens scrape the sides of their beak on the ground?

they are really into their own vanity...lol...

they do it to get the food off their beak..looks funny though

OMG. I have the same ? Mine do that all the time and it bugs me when they scrape yogurt on my pants or my shirt. It is all sticky.

They do it to clean their beaks. Though our "big chick"( he has a name but this has stuck) prefers peoples clothing over anything else.

They do it to get food off their beak so it keeps from getting in their nose. Just yesterday my hen decides to scrap some oatmeal she had her beak right on the side of my head lol

I have seen them do it with treats in their mouths to break it into smaller pieces. It cracks me up when they do that.

It's anoying when they find you to be a good "scraping" tool. But funny none the less

Your chickens scrape their beaks on the ground??? Mine prefer to use my pant leg. It's much more effective and doesn't require bending over.
