Why do chickys run?

So we just got 30 baby chickys in the mail (another 190 coming in a couple weeks) and Im just so excited! They are tiny drops of feathered adorableness! Who I live with has tons of experience doing raising these guys but I have never even seen a baby chicky in real life before! Lol! My question is why do they run all over as soon as you let them out of the boxes?

Hey!! Congratulations on having chicks that many!! and there are more on the way? that's so nice! well... just like other "baby animals" I guess they are just extremely playful and curious, that's all.
