why do dog's do this

Mine like to roll in poop-any kind of poop. I understand that they are masking their scent so their prey can't smell them. I had no idea that dogs hunt poop. They also eat poop. Just gross. I am told they do it to fill nutritional needs that are lacking.

I wear shoes in the house also. I hate going without shoes, so I don't make anyone take off their shoes when they come indoors.

When I had chickens, I couldn't afford a special pair of tennis shoes to wear with the chickens, so I, too, only had one pair. Considering that my dogs run in and out of the house, I can't imagine that I brought in anything worse then they did.

Yeah, that...

Seriously, though, your shoes probably smell like chicken poo and dogs LOVE poo...

Secondhand stores would be a great place to find an old pair of inexpensive boots to wear for working out with the chickens. Just spray them with some antibacterial Febreeze and wash the liners in the washer/dryer.

I keep a pair of plastic garden clogs by the back door that are easy to clean, comfy, and I can easily slip on to go to check on the chicks. I call them my chit-chews

That way I don't track stuff through the house. My dog loves that I move my chicks house frequently...that way she has fresh poo to eat! Yuck!!! No kisses for her!

I generally keep a pair of old tennis shoes around but have been in the same predicament where a pup got hold of my "outside"shoes.

I couldnt replace them right away. It does happen, its life.Shrug.
However, I detest wearing shoes in general so inside in the summer I am barefoot or wear flip flops, winter, looser slippers.
Bluh.Dogs can be SO gross.

My daughters dachshund loves to "discover" cat poop outside. I tell my daughter "remind me NEVER to let him lick me!", which is difficult because he has this other obsession of licking toes, ankles, backs of calves...

I imagine he will really LOVE the chicken poop if he can get hold of it. Ugh.
For some reason it sounds like those two dogs are maybe more "into" the chicken poop than the others. An individual taste.

More poop eating dogs over here too! Chicken poop, cat poop, their own poop, etc...

I don't EVER want them licking me!!

Our Beagle loves to get into the cat litter box when we aren't looking! Almond Roca anyone?
