Planning on changing our diet to less chemicals, hormones, GMOs...
But as to Grands...
Mems (Great Gran on Mom's Side) just died in May... just short of her 89th... MS for about fifty years, but it was a bone disease (and the major pain meds to treat it) that did her in. Major sweet tooth, loved fried foods... NOT a salad eater. Her other half, Peps, is still chugging along.
Ol' Granny (Great Gran on Dad's Side) is still kicking, though slowed, and turned 96 in February. Ol' Papa passed back in '99. Lost a leg to a blood clot, drinker, smoker, served in WWII... and still lasted until he was 85.... both eating eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes etc for breakfast.
Now you go to their kids... Gran (Mem's DD) died before she hit 70, major smoker and it was her lungs that killed her. For Dub (Ol'Gran's DS) it was smoking and weight that got him.
Overall I don't think it's what they were eating... eggs aren't naturally bad for us... it's what's hidden in the eggs that we are NOW eating (that was not there in their day) that's making the difference... and that's what I'm working on fixing in our diets. Wish me luck, it's a LOT of info to wade through, a lot of hunting to find suppliers... but I'm trying for my sake true... but mostly because I can't watch my kiddos drink something and not think "Just what exactly did I just give them? Protein or Poison?"... not a happy feeling.
