Why do my baby chicks...

when i take the new babies ( 2 weeks old) outside in their pen they paly like crazy - today (their 3rd trip out ) they learned how to take dirt baths.
My question is when then hut an area of sunlight -they lay down immediately and go to their sides??? this is cute i just wondered why they do it?

It's totally normal! They are just sunning themselves.

Scared me the first time I saw them do it, too!

I have 3 little ones that do it even in the brooder
