Why do my Duck hens sound like drakes?

I have Two duck "hens" that I took home, but their quacks are oddly raspy like a drake. They both lay eggs and have no drake feathers. Are they quacking like drakes to try and take the spot of one?

Are they broody at all? My Saxony especially get super broody and their voices get hoarse. It will sound more raspy when they become broody.

Also, a respiratory infection could potentially cause a raspy sounding duck. If they seem croupy, like they are having trouble breathtaking, or not eating and drinking normally, they may have an infection.

They arent acting broody or anything, and i know Pekins dont go broody easy. I also dont know if they have an infection because only 2 out of the 3 sound deep and raspy, and they all seem fine,

Oh. Those look like German Pekins, the ones that walk around like runners. They may have a different sounding quack. My runners sound very different from other ducks. I agree a video would help.

I can hear two ducks chattering in voices like my Pekin drakes. They, mine, chatter away to each other all day. Only at the end is the louder female quack.

I cannot answer your question about why females are doing that. They are sweet ducks!
