Does anyone know why my ducks just open their mouths without saying anything? Like when they run away from me the scream but don’t make noise. I’ve had them for 3wks not and they’ve been doing this sense I got them.. the are indexed mix breed and I will attach a picture below!

this is just the ducks swimming😊 could this be Muscovy? Do those ducks do that? They were mixed breed..but different colors. So I don’t think they are but idk and they don’t show any signs of Muscovy so what are your thoughts??
Thank you

Muscovy crosses are kind of rare, in a mixed flock. I plan on getting Muscovies myself for the first time in about forty years.

I suspect your guys are just young and like Reluctant Farmer said Drakes are quieter than Hens.

Okay. Just a couple do that. And they are VERY loud when not together. I didn’t think they were Muscovy but one of our friends said they probably were but they’ve never had Muscovy ducks... yes we are young homesteaders/farmers first time raising ducks and trying to figure out different things🙂

Too cute.

Any update now that they're all feathered out? They're so pretty im curious how the brown ducks look in their adult coat! @FernbergFarms

Hello!! I have two drakes & one hen. The white duck is a Pekin and the brown ones are Kkaki Campbell’s I’m pretty sure. Honestly my drakes are 70% more noisy then my hen. And when will my hen start laying eggs? They are 20 weeks old today I’m pretty sure and she hasn’t started laying yet. I’ll attach a picture of my babies❤️ ( one of the pictures are the first day we got them!)

Oh my gosh they're BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! The khakis are soooo beautiful! and that pekins little face!!! Be still my heart!

I myself am trying to prepare for the move into winter. My biggest worry (besides frostbite etc.) is their boredom. The sun goes down here in Missouri quite early in the winter and I just want them to be have as much (SAFE) outdoor playtime as possible!

Seeing as you're in MN this is a much more rapidly approaching problem for you! Hopefully people have tips for us!

@graypes awe! Thank you!!! I’m absolutely in love with them and their cute personalities too🥰
My Kkaki Campbell hen (Daffy) has just started laying!! She been laying for a few days over a week . But I’ve noticed her eggs aren’t fertilized.. I have 2 drakes and they breed often. Does she just have to keep laying for a little bit then they’ll be fertile? I am hoping to hatch out babies in the spring and maybe even this fall so I am just wondering what’s going on here :) do you have ducks? I would love to see them if you do!!
