Why do my Marans have different color feet?

I just got my Black Copper Marans chicks today. Here's a pic of one of them. Note the copper coloring already appearing on face. All have slate colored legs with flesh colored feet. All have feathering all the way down outside shaft of leg all the way to tip of outside toe.

Mr. Jesse is the seller and is on BYC as Black Copper King. However he now has quite a long waiting list with hundreds of orders for his "Original French Black Copper Marans". His carton of eggs just sold on Eggbid for $160. He sells the chicks for $10 each. Here's a link to his thread.

those do not even have beards

Marans shouldn't have beards.

Hi Chickndaddy, I was actually talking about another order of "Americana" eggs that I ordered and hatched...they dont have beards!!

Davaroo, I see what you mean. And I was actually wondering about that too. I think, I am going to check it out anyways, though. Maybe even clue her in that her "Marans" arent as "Marans-ish" as she thought, and we can sell out flocks together!

Lol But I am going to approach her with the thought that she didnt know either.

Ruth, what a gorgeous chick!! That color is amazing!! I am actually still trying to get in contact with him, he called today and I wasnt here...oops!

Are the feathered feet French or English, and does anyone have any info you think I should know going in to buy Marans?? I thought I had this one well tracked! Lol

I have a Marans Rooster. He has feathered legs but otherwise they are yellow. Does this probably mean he's mixed with the Barred Rock like you said hatcheries do? I'm wanting him for the dark brown egg genes. Do you think I will get that from his offspring?

Can you post a picture of your rooster?

Yellow skin does indicate mixed breeding of some form. White skin is dominant over yellow, so it's not just a one time cross, either.
