It was market day today. The market sells chickens. There must have been twenty or so today for sale. I just wanted to take them all home.

I thought this thread started about not buying hatchery and breeder chicks but to let your flock raise chicks for you in a more natural way.
I can say I've done it all as far as aquiring chicks and broody hatched and raised chicks always turn out better for me then any of the others.
Problem is I can't keep enough broodies to keep up with my chick demands.
The other problem is I have to do selective breeding so I can just let everyone run around in a huge mob and breed and hatch at will.

I'm trying to answer some PMs, cook, keep Fudge (she's a hen) from sampling the cooking and write an email to my daughter who is nagging me to go to England for Christmas.
I totally agree about broody hatched chicks though .....

They don't have laboratory food so unfortunately something has to die to keep us alive, even if you are vegan

If were going to start choosing our food by what is least intelligent I'm going to have to start eating humans.
