Why do so many of you buy so many chicks?

This thread is so funny! I started with 7 hens last spring, then after finding this site I just HAD to try hatching so I borrowed an incubator and hatched 5 chicks. Four were roos so I rehomed 3. Now I had 9.
Spring is here and I NEED fuzzy butts again so I'm splitting an order with a neighbor who fell in love with MY chickens so now SHE'S started too. That'll make 15.
Now because I LOVED hatching the 5 I just ordered my own Little Giant, waiting for that to arrive and then...WATCH OUT! Got my eye on all kinds of beautiful hatching eggs! I will be a chicken machine!

Hubby says no more chickens. HAHAHAHAHA!

I had 7 chickens and eggs in the incubator. I now have the orginal 7, 20 hatched from the incubator, 12 chicks from TSC, 2 pairs of silkies, and 3 ameraucana's. Thankfully, when I went to TSC today they had sold all but 5 of the chicks they got this morning, and I didn't want them. But then they said they are waiting on more that may be in tomorrow!! I might just call in the morning. My very sweet husband has agreed to build a new coop.!! Must have new chickens to fill it!

Its when I get 3 more Seramas, that I have to actually start rounding up to 11.

you need to relearn chicken math...you can't count birds that don't lay...ordered birds don't count because you can't count your chickens before they hatch...seramas aren't really chickens...and i like bantams but them things is small so they really don't count...plus anything with a name doesn't count cuz it is family...see how I am going here...besides he said the limit was per pen...right? so obviously you need more birds

I LOVE Chicken Math! Do you think you might be able to teach this form of math to my husband?
