Why do some folks claim chickens don't think???

I believe they definitely think and remember on some level. They seem to form friendships or at least alliances within the flock. They complain about changes in routine. They've learned which container types are likely to contain food, and which are not. Etc. etc.

I won't be sending them to kindergarten any time soon, but I'm much more impressed with chicken brains than I expected to be when I first got chickens.
