Why do some of my eggs have these dark patches on the ends?

It’s hard to get a good picture of it, but a couple of my hens are laying eggs with these darker patches on the ends frequently. At first I thought it was maybe not enough calcium but I’ve been supplementing it for months now with no change. Any thoughts?

I don't think it should be much concern to worry about. In the past some of the eggs that my chickens layed, were not uniform in tone/color from one end to the other. The brown color, your chicken egg gets from pigment the chicken produces inside body. Different chickens lay different colors, like Easter Eggers. (they produce different pigment colors) It can be, that toward the end of shell production, the chickens supply of pigment inside varies,,,,,, to create the two tone effect. This is just my thought.

I wouldn't be concerned either but my thought is that they look like they got wet.

View attachment 1973968 I have that problem as well. If you candle, you can see that the shell is thinner. I hesitate to sell these eggs to the public. But they are just fine for us. Sure wish I could figure it out how to fix!

I've seen a few of those lately. Most of mine are molting & I assume they are just putting their nutrients to use growing in their new feathers.
I hope we both get nicer eggs in the future.

What do they look like before you wash them?
Was there poop on them, or were they wet at all?
Is the shell thin in that area?
Candling the egg will tell if maybe that is a porous area.

I get some like this as well. Haven't had a problem eating them!
