Why do some replies show the picture, but others show "attachment"

I think it may have to do with how the picture is attached or uploaded, ie as a thumbnail or a full image, or hosted from another website.

Mine, too. It makes it easier to follow the thread and know what the reply or quote is in reference to.

I vaguely remember seeing a setting like this. Where did you see it?
