Make a feeder they can't climb on, scratch through or tip over.

A feeder with a roost guard helps a lot. A roost guard is a rotating thing-a-ma-jig on the top of the feeder that rotates or revolves when a bird tries to perch on top of it. This will also help prevent chickens from crapping in their food.

5 gallon no waste feeder, will solve your problem. I also provide fermented feed in the small hanging feeder

I switching to hanging on-demand feeders like the peck-o-matic and i found my food waste dropped. Not only does it prevent them from scratching and kicking at the feed. It also only drops feed as they move the catch dish through the trigger rod. Saved me a ton on feed and keep the floor of my coop cleaner.
