Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I really didn't know where to put it!

Sometimes I read that people who want to eat wild bird eggs will put them in a bucket of water, the ones that float are good to eat. My question is....why? Don't fresh eggs have a smaller air cell so they'll sink and the old eggs will float? I'm really puzzled about this and would appreciate an answer.

I'd say somewhere in the chain it got flipped around. You want to eat eggs that sink since if it floats it is likly old and if in the elements, probably spoiled too.

ohhhhh ok, well at least I know I'm not crazy! Thanks so much
