Why does my pullet have hackle and saddle feathers?

This is him just before he left for the farm. He's doing very well with his ISA brown ladies. I'm going to hatch one or two of his eggs in my next batch!

Poppy looks good. Sorry, he is not a pullet. Our little one is almost four months now. He has not crowed yet but has tried a few times during the night. His papa has not bothered him. I hope it is true that little cock of ours will not crow while his father is still alive. His papa does not bother him at all. All the hens don't want anything to do with him and he is bit scared of them right now. I do try to get him treats while the hens and Rooster gets them but the ladies don't want little cock to have any. If I have anything to say little cock will get treats.

He is gorgeous!!!
Im curious...did you inform the farmer you got poppy from that the bone sexing failed?
Just some context- my mum's friend inherited a farm from her parents. It's about 2 hours away. She and her husband go up every weekend. Her "neibour" is the one we got poppy off. He's very sincere and has been raising poultry for 45 years. I still don't know why he sexed them like that. Poppy had a comb from the start, and a short tail. I thought he was a rooster even before I knew much about chickens.

After this thread started, we contacted him. He never replied. I think he had family issues, and we were in lockdown anyway. 2 of our birds from him had neurological issues (random, not his fault) and he was very helpful with that (they sadly died though)

Oh my goodness, so long ago! Poppy looked so ridiculous. I got to visit him in January, as we stayed at our friend's farm for a weekend. It was heaven. Unfortunately, and very ironically, he had had a stroke that morning. Was limping and an eye swolen shut. I asked them if they were aware of his condition and they had no idea! I felt so awful it happened just before i was visiting.

Anyways, he had grown handsome and big! I was blessed to see him again. The family took him inside and nurtured him, but unfortunately had to put him down after a couple weeks. He passed in maybe late January, I think.

So the chapter has closed on Poppy, but he had a beatiful, fulfilled life, and even got a taste of the country (and some hot hens 👀)
