Why does my rooster do this?

I've seen him doing this before but I dont exactly know. But he just like sits or kneels down in between the door and the straw bale and then makes noises. Like itll he the noise when he finds food and then itll be the predator noise that little scream he does. And then he goes quiet. When I walk over there to check it out he gets up and leaves and then I walk away hes back in there. It's funny to me but I'm confused why.

Maybe he is trying to find a nesting area for his hens?

I've seen him do that in the nesting box so good to know hes helping lol
