Why does my rooster squat?

I forwarded your pics, and description of this "odd" bird to the local university ag dept. After much research and great consideration on their part, they have finally come to an unanimous conclusion as to the sex of this bird.

If it's not a hen, it's a tranny rooster in drag!
:barnie:eek::th:lau:gig

Just kidding, they said it looks like and most probably is a Hen. Give her a couple more months and she'll start laying.

It’s already been mentioned, but it could really be a hermaphrodite.

My old professor had a story of when she was in vet school and the entire class argued over whether this little calf was male or female. Turned out it was both. It’s more common than you’d think.

Yours is definitely a hen. But on the subject of roosters squatting :lau my rooster was squatting while I was dusting him with mite powder because he was scared. He's definitely a roo though, he's got the male feathers on the back and mates with the hens, please no one tell me he's a hen as well because he's definitely not! :lau
