I have a beautiful Orp Rooster that has always been kind and great with his hens - but recently he has decided to hate just one hen (a buff Orp). He hates her and chases her and pulls out her feathers... Why does he hate just one? Anything i can do? She is not new to the flock and she is even older than him.

Don't really know why, has the hen repeatedly refused his advances? If so maybe he doesn't want her around setting a "bad" example for his harem.

I have this problem. The reason for my roo hating on the one hen is the fact that this hen hatched him (also a buff orp). She is his mother so to speak and she knows this and runs and hides from him anytime she see's him coming. She doesn't want to go into the coop at night even because he's in there. The rest of the hens stay around him, but not her. So he's very, very rude to her. I don't blame her. I wouldn't want my "son" thinking he could be my husband!

I gave 4 pullets to my cousin to add to her flock or 4. One is an EE roo I gave her this summer. I ended up taking back 2 which were both Black Americauna. The others were fine. But one black one was ALWAYS head in the corner and she wasn't allowed to eat or drink. The roo was very mean to the black girls. The others were not black americaunas. One was a White Americauna and one was a sexlink. My cousin has never had these breeds in her flock before either. Her girl are all different breeds, judt not the breeds I gave her. So we're not sure what caused this problem either.

My cousin and I thought we'd give her a week to see how things would go. Bad! I brought them here to my flock and a little fighting....but not like that. They are both happier here.

If she has always been in the flock, no problems, and it is just this hen, then I would be suspicious that there is something wrong with her. His job is to protect the flock, and he may sense something that worries him about this hen, and feels that she is a threat to the flock. I would look her over very carefully, make sure she is in the best of shape. He sounds like a good guy, so don't disregard his innate sensibility.

They sound a little like children on the playground! Maybe Chicky tocks rite there might be some type of prior relation or relationship, same as us humans there always that one thing we can't let go, theres something he does'nt aprove of .
